It’s a new weekend, which means every Guardian’s favorite shady Destiny 2 vendor is back at a new location today. Xur is waiting to sell you a new exotic or two, and even offer up his cipher quest if you’re in need of another weapon from the exotic archive.
Every Friday, Xur returns to Destiny 2 in a new location and offers Guardians a chance to grab an exotic weapon and some new exotic armor rolls in-game, along with his exclusive cipher quest that you need to complete in order to claim an old exotic weapon from the Monument to Lost Lights.
Xur has now returned to Destiny 2 for this week, and he’s due to set up shop in a different location with a whole new stock on offer to Guardians. In fact, as of Season of the Lost, Xur can now sell a series of Legendary items, too – although we’ve not spotted any great rolls on them yet.

Where is Xur today in Destiny 2?
As of 10 AM PDT/6 PM BST on Friday, September 17, Xur can be found in the Tower, in the Hangar.
As always though, he’ll always appear in either the Winding Cove (EDZ), Watcher’s Grave (Nessus), or the Tower’s Hangar.
What is Xur selling? Exotic armor and weapon (September 17 – September 21)
Here’s what Xur has this week:
- Merciless exotic fusion rifle
- Shards of Galanor gauntlets for Hunters
- Geomag Stabilizers leg armor for Warlocks
- One-Eyed Mask helmet for Titans
Merciless Exotic Fusion Rifle
The Merciless exotic fusion rifle comes with the intrinsic perks Conserve Momentum, which decreases charge time after landing non-lethal shots, and Impetus, which increases damage by reloading after a kill. With fusion rifles getting plenty of love in Season 15, Merciless is a strong exotic option.
Shards of Galanor Hunter Gauntlets
Blade Barrage is far from the dominant super it once was, but the Shards of Galanor are still a solid pick for Gunslingers using that subclass branch. The armor’s Sharp Edges perk refunds super energy when eliminating or damaging opponents with Blade Barrage, making it a great tool for recharging your super.
Geomag Stabilizers Warlock boots
Even after a slight nerf in Season 15, the Geomag Stabilizers remain a powerful exotic for Stormcaller Warlocks. The armor’s Close Enough perk extends the duration of your super by damaging opponents with it, and while Chaos Reach isn’t dominating the Crucible like it used to, these boots are still a solid pick.
One-Eyed Mask Titan Helmet
Bungie has knocked the OEM down a few notches, but it remains a force to be reckoned with nonetheless. The helmet’s Vengeance perk highlights targets that damage you, and eliminating those opponents then grants you an overshield, making it an excellent tool in the Crucible.
What did Xur sell last week?
Last week, Xur had the following on offer.
- Monte Carlo exotic auto rifle
- Liar’s Handshake gauntlets for Hunters
- Claws of Ahamkara gauntlets for Warlocks
- Helm of Saint-14 helmet for Titans
Read on for more info on each of these exotics:
Monte Carlo Exotic Auto Rifle
The Monte Carlo’s intrinsic perk, the Monte Carlo Method, reduces your melee cooldown by dealing damage with the gun, and its Markov Chain trait grants increased damage from melee kills and kills with the weapon. This revamped Destiny 1 exotic remains a powerful tool for many melee-focused builds.
Liar’s Handshake Hunter Gauntlets
The Liar’s Handshake gauntlets are a solid exotic for melee-focused Hunters. Their Cross Counter perk allows you to dish out powerful melee counterpunches after using an Arc melee ability or taking melee damage, making them a dangerous tool for close-quarters combat.
Claws of Ahamkara Warlock Gauntlets
The Claws of Ahamkara are an extremely powerful Warlock exotic. The armor’s intrinsic perk, The Whispers, grants an extra melee ability charge, which allows you to dish out twice as many devastating attacks, making it a solid pick regardless of your specific playstyle.
Helm of Saint-14 Titan Helmet
The Helm of Saint-14 remains one of Destiny’s most iconic exotics. Its Starless Night perk allows you to blind enemies and gain an overshield when casting Ward of Dawn, and guarding with your super blinds enemies as well — making the exotic not only stylish, but effective.
Xur’s Legendary weapons and armor (September 17 – September 21)
Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost introduced a massive change to Xur’s age-old purpose. Beginning in Season 15, Xur now offers a selection of Legendary weapons and armor each week, in addition to his typical exotics.
This week, Xur is offering a new selection of Legendary gear. In addition to the Wild Hunt armor set for all classes, the vendor also has several decent weapon rolls on the following guns:
- Dire Promise Hand Cannon
- Escape Velocity SMG
- IKELOS SMG v1.0.2
- Main Ingredient Fusion Rifle
- Truthteller Grenade Launcher
- Steel Sybil Z-14 Sword
- Bottom Dollar Hand Cannon
This selection adds a whole new dimension to Xur, and provides a chance to grab some weapons and armor sets you may have missed in past seasons. While unconfirmed, it appears Xur could even end up selling a select offering of Trials weapons, so make sure to check back each week to see what’s on offer.
I’m excited for when he starts selling Trials weapons. Tomorrow’s Answer, The Scholar, and The Summoner is in his loot pool https://t.co/Wxk5Gu36LZ

When does Xur come to Destiny 2? Vendor weekly reset
Xur will move to a new location today in Destiny 2, (September 17) and will remain there until Tuesday, September 21. The Agent of the Nine disappears every Tuesday at reset, and won’t return until next Friday when he’ll show up like clockwork and offer Guardians some new gear — for a price.
While Xur’s choice of weapons and armor pieces rotates each week, he also always has an exotic cipher quest available for players to pick up (unless they already have one active in their inventory that needs to be completed).
The exact process for finishing the quest can vary, but it involves completing a number of activities in Destiny 2’s three core playlists: Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. If you’re desperate for a chance to recover an old weapon from the kiosk, you should grab this and knock it out.
So, there you have it. Everything you need to know about where Xur’s location is in Destiny 2.
