Sonus Faber Olympica Speakers

Apart from being able to deliver the entire range of sounds the human ear can perceive in a smooth and flawless manner, today’s top notch loudspeakers also need to be good-lookers to go with the arrangements inside your room. So, bringing aesthetics and exquisite sound performance together, Sonus Faber has prepared some gorgeous models for the connoisseurs – the Olympica Loudspeakers.

Sonus Faber pays tribute to the Vicenza Theater in Italy with these sets. There are 3 different models in this series, with different designs, uses and configurations, thanks to the exquisite work of Andrea Palladio. The three models I’m jabbering about are the Olympica I, 2-way speakers to be placed on the bookshelf, the Olympica II, 3-way floor-standing speakers, and the Olympica III, 4-way floor-standing. They were reportedly unveiled on the occasion of the Munich High End event that has taken place between the 9th and the 12th of May. According to the Italian brand, more models are bound to be released during the summer.

The manufacture of the speakers has known usage of high degree leather and woods. The wood is natural walnut, used for the base plates of the speakers. The joints were crafted from high grade maple wood, but have received a very discrete walnut wooden finish. The top of the speakers tough is shod in natural leather, just like the rear face and the front baffle. The leather cover at the top was garnished with aluminium Sonus Faber logos.

What’s even more interesting is the specially designed asymmetry which reduces internal resonances and provides space for the flex bass system. The technical side of the speakers goes like this – 29 mm dome 29XTR2 tweeters with DAD technology and Neodymium magnet, 150 mm mid-range cone crafted from a mixture of cellulose, kenaf and kapok, and 180mm conical woofer with cellulose pulp membrane and Syntactic foam.

The Sonus Faber Olympica Speakers will probably be priced similarly to the previously released AIDA Speakers.
